Update October 14, 2019 @8:00am

Disney’s Skyliner has officially reopened as of this morning and is operating normally.

Update October 7, 2019 @11:30pm

Disney World has finally released a statement regarding the accident that occurred on Saturday evening.

“We have a team diligently looking into the cause of the malfunction on the Epcot line of the Disney Skyliner. We have been in contact with the guests, many of whom were on the Skyliner for more than three hours until we were able to restart the system. We have expressed our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and continue to work with each guest individually.”

Update October 7, 2019 @10:40am

Disney World has now confirmed, on the official Walt Disney World website that the Disney’s Skyliner System is closed. They have not provided any other details

Original Article

Chances are you have heard that there was a misshape with the new Disney’s Skyliner system on Oct 5, 2019. Which caused the system to shut down and force the first full scale evacuation of the Skyliner system at Disney World. While there have been other temporary shutdowns of the Skyline system, this has been the worst one. The worst part is that the Skyliner system has only been only a week. This will leave many guest caution to ride the Skyliner in the future.

Last night, what appears to have been a crash between several gondolas occurred at the Riviera Resort station. This caused the entire system to be shut down. Photos from Twitter and Instagram, show what appears to be a Gondola crashing into another one.

As of this publication Disney World has only released limited information regarding this incident. The initial statement that Disney has put out stated “ The Disney’s Skyliner is experiencing unexpected downtime.” During the course of events Disney did acknowledge that there was an accident involving several gondolas but provided little other details.

Guests who were stuck on Disney’s Skyliner took to twitter last to voice their concerns and frustrations over the incident. There were reports of guests being trapped on the Gondolas for over 3 hours, being told to open the emergency kits under their seats.

Guests currently at Walt Disney World are reporting that all the Disney’s Skyliner stations are closed. Castmemebers are not providing much details as to when the system will reopen. We speculate it may reopen once a full investigation is concluded and they know why two gondolas collided.

What’s next for Disney’s Skyliner

There is going to be a lot of speculation over the next few days as to the future of Disney’s Skyliner. Since it’s opening on September 29, there have been several occasions where it has slowed down or stopped for periods of time. Guests seem to be split on the Gondolas, you will either love it or never ride it.

Yes the Gondolas will reopen, we just do not have any sort of timeline as of now from Disney World. They haven’t even released any sort of real statement from last nights accident.

I know many guests will avoid the Skyliner system now and seek other modes of transportation around the parks. These are the guests who would be content if Disney’s Skyliner never reopened. However many other guests and Disney World will want it back up and operational ASAP. We know that much needed improvements will come to the Skyliner system after last night. I would like to see Disney come up with some kind of improvement to help with air flow circulation in the Gondolas. The lack of air flow when the system stops, seems to be the biggest complaint from guests.

We will provide further details as we get them and once Disney World releases a statement regarding the incident.

ECV Policy Changes

ECV Rental Policy Changes

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you click on a link.

Last week Disney World had introduced several new policy changes that will affect guests who are renting Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) from third party vendors.

Before these recent policy changes, Disney did not have any preferred ECV vendor. They would also allow any third party vendor to drop your ECV off with Guest Services at your Resort and not require you to be present. Check out Disney Worlds Full ECV Policy

What’s Changed?

Disney Preferred Vendor

Disney World now has a single preferred ECV rental vendor. The preferred vendor is ScooterBug. If you are renting a scooter through ScooterBug, Disney will still allow the scooter to be dropped off at Guest Services. They will manage your scooter until you arrive at your resort.

Non Preferred vendor

You are still able to rent scooters from the non preferred vendor. However, Disney will not manage these rentals at Guest Services for you. You will have to arrange a time to meet with your rental vendor to pick up your scooter. Make sure you contact your vendor for more information.

Why not just rent from Disney

If you are new at renting a scooter for your trip to Disney World, you may ask yourself why not just rent from Disney World. Yes, Disney does offer various ECV rentals. However these rentals are limited to the theme parks and Disney Springs. So if you will need to use an ECV around the resort you will have to rent one through a third party vendor.

The Walt Disney Company is getting ready to launch a new video streaming services on November 12 here in the United States. Are you ready to take the plunge and jump on the bandwagon with everybody else that is excited for this new Disney only streaming service.

Here is everything you need to know about the new Disney+ video streaming services, which Disney announced back in the fall of 2017 and has been a hot topic for Disney fans all over. All of Disney World’s movies and television shows will be pulled off other streaming services and soley streamed on Disney+.

Cost of Disney+

When Disney announced this new streaming service they announced that it would be cheaper than Netflix. Disney+ price will be set at $6.99/month or 69.99/annually. Netflix is currently almost double this price. Walt Disney was able to sweeten the pot a little bit offering a combined service which includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99. Having this combination at this price point will make it very competitive with Netflix.

Pre-ordering for Disney+ is now available to the general public. You can pre-order per month at $6.99 or annually at $69.99. Pre-order here.

Disney has extended an offer to the public which can save you $40 on your subscription. You can sign up for a 3-year subscription to Disney+ For $169.99 plus tax. If paid monthly would cost you over $250. To sign up visit Founders.disneyplus.com, enter code “PARKSPASS3YEARS”.

Content

What movies and television shows will I be able to watch with this new service? While many die-hard Disney fans will sign up for the service just because it’s Disney, many also want to know what content will be available on the Disney+ service.  When the service launches on November 12 it is expected to have approximately 500 movies and 7000 television episodes. We know this isn’t everything Disney World has to offer between all of its entertainment studios. This compared to the over 5,000 titles Netflix currently has to offer is a lot smaller selection. This sharp difference in content is the reason that Disney+ is offering its service at a lower price than Netflix.

Walt Disney has several entertainment studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios and LucasFilms which the majority of their content will come from. It will also have titles from the Fox and ABC studios. It is expected that Disney+ will see an increase in content from the 20th Century Fox studio after 2022 which their contract with HBO expires.

Walt Disney has a large selection of movies and television content on their Hulu platform. Currently its estimated that Hulu has over 40,000 television shows and 2,000 movies. When announcing Disney+, Disney has stated that they intend to keep these services separate to maintain Disney+ as a strictly family oriented streaming service.

Disney has also announced new and original content for their new streaming service. If these new series are produced the same way Disney produces and creates entertainment, we will not be disappointed with their new content.

Source Disney+

Disney has tested the Disney+ streaming service in the Netherlands, and the anticipated list of movies and television shows on the streaming service at launch has been published.  Check out the list here. When won’t know for sure if this is the same content that will be on Disney+ when it is released in the States.

Stream Disney+

We now know what Disney+ has to offer. How can we steam the content.

Currently when Disney+ launches on November 12th we will be able to download the app on Android devices, Apple devices, chromecast, PS4, Xbox One, Roku, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV. The app will allow you to stream on up to four devices simultaneously. There is one device that will not support the app.

Less than week before the launch of Disney+ we can not confirm that you will be able to get the Disney+ app on Amazon Firestick.

A lot of people are still on the fence with it. I know our son will love it, as he loves his Disney shows and movies. With Disney pulling their content from Netflix with the launch of their new service, we will probably lose much of the content our son enjoys to watch. It is unsure as to when and how much of Disney related content will be pulled from other streaming services. For our family the biggest drawback to getting Disney+ is the fact that we can’t watch it on Amazon FireTV. We will also be curious to see how long we will have to maintain multiple streaming services.

Are you ready for Disney+? What are you most looking forward to about it?
